Victor D. Vela, M.D.
A native of San Antonio, Dr. Vela attended the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, received his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas in Austin, masters degree from the University of Texas at San Antonio and a medical degree from the University of Iowa College of Medicine.

Dr. Vela spent eight years in the Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa and nine years in the San Antonio Medical Center. He works closely with excellent specialists in Boerne and the San Antonio Medical Center. He is a member of the TMA and American Academies’ of Family Physicians.

Dr. Vela served as a member of the Practicing Physicians Advisory Council for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. This fifteen member council, appointed by the U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services, was established by congress in 1990 and meets quarterly to advise the HHS Secretary on proposed changes in regulations which relate to physician’ services under Medicare and Medicaid.

Dr. Vela also served on the Board of Directors of Youth Alternatives, Inc., a private non-profit agency that provides individual, group and family counseling as well as emergency shelter placement for young people in need. Youth Alternatives runs Meadowlands, a residential treatment facility in Boerne and The Bridge, a runaway shelter and counseling center in San Antonio.

Dr. Vela is married, has two sons and enjoys sports, outdoor activities and reading. He is bilingual in English and Spanish.

Dr. Shannon Livingston, M.D.
Dr. Livingston was born in Midland, TX but her childhood was spent in Valley Mills, TX. After graduating Valedictorian from Valley Mills High School she attended Texas A&M and obtained a degree in Biomedical Science. She then went on to the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas where she obtained her Doctor of Medicine. She completed a Family Practice Residency in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. While in Pennsylvania she worked in a variety of settings including a large Family Practice Center, the Emergency Department, Inpatient Pediatrics and an Urgent Care Center. She also participated in a medical mission trip to Costa Rica.

Dr. Livingston is Board Certified in Family Medicine and has certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advance Life Support and Advanced Trauma Life Support. She is a member of the Texas and American Academies’ of Family Physicians.

Dr. Livingston is honored to join Dr. Vela’s practice and has long awaited an opportunity to return to Texas and work in a small town such as Boerne. She is looking forward to becoming an active member of the community and raising a family here. She will be seeing children and adults and performing well women examinations. She is skilled in a variety of procedures including dermatological procedures and joint injections.

Dr. Livingston is married and has a one year old daughter. She has two Labrador Retrievers and enjoys hiking, fishing, bird hunting, sports and other outdoor activities.

Dr. Miguel Atala
Dr. Miguel Atala is a native Houstonian where he attended Robert E. Lee High School. Dr. Atala attended Lee High School and competed in football and track. Dr. Atala later graduated from Texas State University in 2000 with a BS in Biology with a minor in Exercise Sports Science. Dr. Atala continued his education at the prestigious Texas Chiropractic College. He specialized in Sports and Soft Tissue Injuries and has completed post graduate level courses in Rehabilitation, Soft Tissue Treatment, Sports Injuries, and is also a Certified Chiropractic Sports Practitioner.
Dr. Miguel Atala joined Airrosti in 2007 and practiced in Kingwood, Tx before deciding to move to San Antonio and accept a position in Boerne. Dr. Atala has family in San Antonio and jumped at the chance to move closer to his family and live in the Texas Hill Country.

PA Megan Staudt
Megan Staudt is an honors graduate from Texas A&M University and from the University of Texas Health Science Center PA Program.
She was born in Fredericksburg, where she still resides.
